On March 30, 1970, A legend was born at the Meadow Farm in Doswell, Virginia in the form of a chestnut colt from the auspicious pairing of the nation’s leading sire Bold Ruler and the blue-blooded dam Somethingroyal. The world would come to know this future 1973 Triple Crown champion as Secretariat and his historic hoofbeats still reverberate in the sport of Thoroughbred racing a half century later.
In conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of Secretariat’s record-breaking Triple Crown season, we are proud to offer this limited edition leather foal halter identical to the halters provided to the new foals born at the Meadow during that era. Not only does this halter represent all the historic implications of Secretariat’s achievements, but also the hopes and aspirations of ”the Mistress of the Meadow,” Penny Chenery who bred the racing superstar.
Each halter is individually hand-stitched and assembled with select leathers and solid brass fittings found in the original, as well as several options for the descriptive halter-tag plate denoting Secretariat and his royal heritage. This exclusive collectible is limited to only 73 pieces in the total edition, with each containing a proprietary insignia and accompanied by its own Certificate of Authenticity and bonus Secretariat foal photo. Measuring approximately 16" in length, not only is the diminutive halter a testament to the finest in equine craftsmanship, it also is adorable, and perfect for display.
We expect this offer to join the ranks of other long sold-out and now coveted commemorative tack and racing artifacts such as the Saddlecloth and Pewter Shoes. Don't get left at the gate, reserve yours now!
